Winnipeg Harvest’s Community Garden is expanding! Our 7,000 square foot space will increase to 9,000 square feet very soon.
The garden currently consists of a mixture of 30 raised beds, a blue-box garden, and a focus on recycling old materials to make new garden features.
Staying true to the Winnipeg Harvest way, the construction and maintenance of the Community Garden is done entirely by volunteers.
With more than 24,000 people volunteering at Winnipeg Harvest annually we have a unique opportunity to educate the public about the benefits of urban agriculture and the importance of food security.
Produce harvested from the Community Garden makes it to our commercial kitchen for daily lunches for up to 150 volunteers. It is also distributed to local agencies and food banks. Activities from the Community garden will run in conjunction with the Grow-A-Row program that requests Manitobans to donate a row of their garden to Winnipeg Harvest.
